Positive sales are leading to more recruitment and investment among South West manufacturing businesses – according to a recent report from the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS). Simon Howes, MAS Area Director for South West England, said: “Our survey suggests that the region’s SME manufacturers are more than playing their part in helping to create a strong base for the country’s economic recovery… it is important that we give recognition to the strength of the sector here in the South West.”
46% of respondents – small and medium sized businesses in the region – said that they were planning to take on more staff. This confident outlook comes from increased sales in more than half of the businesses questioned. Businesses in the area are also planning to invest and develop new technologies which should in turn create new jobs. For more details read the full article in the Gloucestershire Echo.
